Located about 30 kilometers north of Agadir, Imi Ouaddar is a small seaside resort nestled at the end of a wide, sheltered bay. Surrounded by hills and facing the Atlantic, it offers a peaceful setting, far from the hustle and bustle of the more famous surfing towns. It is a place particularly popular with families and beginners for its tranquil atmosphere and spacious beaches.
The group lesson takes place on a fine-sand beach, renowned for its gentle waves and easy access to the water. The bay’s configuration allows the waves to roll in more gently, creating ideal conditions for learning the basics of surfing or building on your skills. Beginners can practice safely in the whitewater, while intermediate surfers can work on their positioning on longer waves.
The session begins with a look at the spot and a briefing on the day’s conditions. The instructors explain how to read the ocean, identify takeoff zones, and understand the rhythm of the sets. After a light warm-up, the group learns or reviews the fundamentals: paddling, board position, balance, and the timing of the stand-up.
Group lessons foster a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Everyone progresses at their own pace, encouraged by the other participants. The instructors stay close by in the water, correcting form and adapting the exercises to each person’s skill level.
After the session, Imi Ouaddar naturally invites you to extend the morning: relax on the beach, have lunch at a small restaurant facing the ocean, or simply take a stroll along the bay. Surfing then becomes a moment to reconnect with nature, set to the rhythm of the waves and the tranquility of the village.
