Agadir Timitar Festival

Every summer, the city of Agadir transforms into a vast open-air music venue with the Timitar Festival, one of Morocco’s most important cultural events. For several days, Amazigh artists, Moroccan stars, and international musicians take turns performing on multiple stages across the city, celebrating musical and cultural diversity.

Created in 2004, the festival has become a must-attend event for Agadir residents, visitors, and world music enthusiasts. Its unique feature? Honoring Amazigh culture while creating a dialogue with musical traditions from Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

The result is a unique, festive, and welcoming atmosphere where traditions, modern rhythms, and spectacular performances come together under the skies of Agadir.

A Festival Dedicated to Amazigh Culture

The name Timitar means “signs” in the Amazigh language. It symbolizes the cultural bridges the festival seeks to build between people and musical traditions.

The festival was created to showcase the richness of Amazigh culture, which is deeply rooted in the Souss region. Each edition features concerts by Amazigh artists from various regions of Morocco, including Souss, the Rif, the Middle Atlas, and the High Atlas.

However, Timitar is not limited to traditional music. Artists often reinterpret these cultural heritages through contemporary influences such as rock, fusion, jazz, reggae, and electronic music.

This meeting point between tradition and modernity is what makes the festival so distinctive.

An International Lineup

Over the years, the Timitar Festival has welcomed world-renowned artists. The lineup intentionally blends different musical styles to encourage dialogue between cultures.
