About an hour and a half north of Agadir, Imsouane is a small fishing village that has become world-renowned for its long, consistent waves. Nestled between cliffs and the ocean, the bay offers spectacular scenery and a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for learning or perfecting your surfing skills in a pristine natural setting.
Group lessons take place mainly in the bay, known for its long, rolling waves over a sandy bottom. This setup allows beginners to stay upright longer and better understand the wave’s movement, while intermediate surfers can work on their lines, stance, and fluidity on extended rides.
The session begins with a survey of the surf spot from the beach or the harbor to identify the sets and take-off zones. The instructors then explain safety rules, how the currents work, and the technical basics of surfing. After a light warm-up, the group gradually enters the water to practice paddling, take-off timing, and their first rides.
Learning together creates a friendly atmosphere where everyone progresses at their own pace. Participants encourage one another, share their experiences, and receive personalized advice right in the water. Between waves, we watch the blue boats return to the harbor and enjoy the unique tranquility of Imsouane.
After the session, many extend the experience with lunch overlooking the bay, a stroll to the small harbor, or simply some downtime on the beach. Surfing then becomes a moment of connection with the ocean and local life.
